“We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” - 1 John 1:3 (NIV)

Weekly

Sunday

9:30 am Bible Class at Univeriversity Church of Christ (UCC)

3400 Conner Drive Canyon, TX 79015

We want college students to start every week feeling refreshed. Every Sunday during the Spring semester we will have a College aged Sunday morning Bible Class offered at the University Church of Christ. Come at 9:30 and ask for the College Class and you will be directed to the appropriate classroom.

10:25 am Worship at UCC

The elders of the University Church of Christ (UCC) serve as the overseeing elders of Buffs for Christ and have done so since its inception back in 1950. The members of UCC have been highly involved with Buffs for Christ as well and they understand the pressures and needs of college students. Sunday mornings feature traditional acapella worship and a time of intergenerational fellowship. There are many opportunities for students to get plugged in at UCC and they are always welcome!

6:00 pm Evening Worship at UCC

Sunday mornings can be difficult, if you weren’t able to make it to Worship we encourage you to join UCC for their evening worship, there you will again enjoy acapella worship and a sermon as well as have an opportunity to partake in communion. Again, this is a fantastic time to fellowship with members across all generations and continue to grow together with one another in the Lord.

Monday

8:00 pm Monday Nigth Worship (MNW) at Buffs for Christ aka “The Chair”

302 24th Street

Monday nights are a favorite for Buffs for Christ students. The first and third Monday of each month serve as special times of worship we call “Early Christian Worship”. We purposefully create a candle-lit atmosphere where our students are encouraged to set aside the pressures of college life, consider the sacrifice of the faithful who have gone before us, and worship God. The idea is to mimic how many first-century Christians may have worshiped as they were being persecuted for their beliefs. The remaining Mondays are dedicated to student-led devotionals. Led by a different young man each week, great insight is spoken from a college-age perspective and it also serves as a great way to introduce our young men to public preaching, teaching, song leading, and prayer!

Wednesday

5:30 pm Dinner & Bible Study at The Chair

We are called to share the gospel and create disciples (Matt. 28:18-20) and Wednesday Nights is just one way that Buffs for Christ seeks to fulfill this call. We will start out by serving a meal at 5:30. After the meal at 7 pm we will have a bible study where different men will come and lead our discussion. Students are encouraged to invite their friends! We will also advertise this meal on campus in an effort to reach the lost.

Thursday

7:00 pm Split Guys and Girls Devotionals at The Chair

It is no secret that guys and girls think differently. We know it, you know it…and so we occasionally divide our group and discuss some tough topics. While our topics vary, the purpose is always to love each other and support one another through daily struggles.

Fall

Join the Herd

After students move in WT has many ways for students to engage on campus and with the organizations around campus! Buffs for Christ is involved in many different ways! You can find us on move-in day at the organization fair where we typically hand out ice pops and have several giveaways! Then after the organization fair, we will head back to our building on campus “The Chair” (304 24th Street), and have a game night where we start to get to know the new students and reconnect with students coming back from summer break!

Buff Branding Sunday

Always the Sunday before classes begin, Buff Branding Sunday is an excellent time for students to get plugged in with Buffs for Christ (BFC) and the University Chruch of Christ (UCC)! We begin at 9:00 am with Breakfast & Bible Class at “The Chair” (304 24th Street), then we head to UCC for worship which begins at 10:25. After worship there is a FREE lunch catered by Rudy’s BBQ, then after evening Worship at UCC, we head back to BFC for a free home-cooked meal! Buff Branding Sunday is an excellent opportunity to connect and get 3 FREE meals before classes begin!

Welcome Week

WT does everything they can to get new students to plug in on-campus and Buffs for Christ is no exception our weekly events kick off starting the first day of classes with Early Christian Worship at 8 pm. Then Tuesday we have a movie night at 8 p.m., Wednesday we have Bible Class at 7 p.m., Thursday we have split Guys/Girls Devotionals, Friday is a Fun Night, and Saturday we typically tailgate before the home football game! That first week of classes can be stressful but we don’t want you to miss out so we offer more events that first week of classes in hopes of catching as many students as possible!

Retreat – Camp Blue Haven

What retreats are supposed to feel like! Just when a student thinks they will not be able to survive the workload of the fall semester, we pack up and head to the beautiful mountains of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Students fellowship and focus their minds on God for an entire weekend. Each year we have talented and challenging guest speakers that connect students to our annual theme, incredible singing, hikes, and free time; this retreat is a highlight every year.

Football games

It’s West Texas. We do not need to tell you that football is kind of a big deal! We typically tailgate before home football games then head to the game together as a group to cheer on fellow students both on the field and in the WT marching band! On, on, Buffalos!

Christmas caroling & party

Christmas Caroling is a way of blessing our widows and elderly from the University Church of Christ while blessing each other. Our group will visit more than a dozen homes to sing Christmas Carols and conclude the night with the blessing of great food and a gift exchange.

Spring

Mission trip

What do you have planned over spring break? Forget that trip to the beach or even that trip home to sit on your couch, and come be a part of God’s mission of blessing others!

Our mission trips are constantly taking students to new areas in and out of the United States. With recent domestic adventures to Memphis, TN, Houston, TX, and Tuba City, AZ, as well as global missions to Mexico and Ecuador, and Nicaragua our purpose is always to be Christ in action.

Campus Encounter (OSU)

A yearly conference held in Stillwater, OK. This conference attracts Church of Christ campus ministries from all over the Midwest and serves as an amazing time of revitalization and learning. Not to mention, we love Eskimo Joe t-shirts!!!

Sweetheart Banquet

A ministry for University Chruch of Christ widows. The men from Buffs for Christ are instructed to be gentlemen and pick up their “dates.” The ladies of Buffs for Christ always arrange and serve a delicious meal. Everyone is smiling by the end of this delightful evening.

Student-Led Service Projects

A Student-Led ministry in which various Buffs for Christ individuals arrange community service projects. Projects in the past have consisted of rebuilding steps, building a fence, picking up trash, or helping people move. We are always looking for new servant leaders with creative ideas!
